Established in 2019, Groom A Girl Foundation is a social empowerment Community Based Organization(CBO), headquartered in Kakiri Sub-county, Wakiso district, Uganda. Our primary goal is to Health promote(health education, health prevention, health protection), mentor, inspire and empower women and girls particularly those in the urban slums(Ghetto) and rural parts of Uganda. We believe that prosperous and more inclusive societies of tomorrow can be achieved by empowering women and girls of today. It is without a doubt that everybody benefits when a girl is empowered.
There exist a vast number of studies that have been conducted in the area of girls/women empowerment over the years. From all these studies, a common conclusion is evident; the enormous benefits that trickle down when a girl/woman is empowered. For instance, reduction in maternal deaths, child marriages and under-seventeen girls who get pregnant. A lot has been done and achieved by various people/organizations but still, there is a long way to go. Groom A Girl Foundation aims to join efforts with other partners in working towards empowering girls in an attempt to meet both the local and global target of bettering societies through empowering girls.

We envision more inclusive and prosperous societies where women and girls are empowered and are, therefore, able to take an active role not only economically but also socially and politically.

“Growing up in Kamwokya, a slum/Ghetto community, life was not easy for me. The challenges I encountered while growing up in a boy dominated family have made me passionate about the empowerment of women and girls. It is also why I joined efforts with my husband (Mr. Abudallah Kayemba) to co-found Groom A Girl foundation, for the sole purpose of using the little God has given us to motivate, empower and inspire girls and women from urban slums and rural parts of Uganda.
